With the help of AI Overview, pretty accurate:

Creek Street in Ketchikan, Alaska is a historic boardwalk district that was once the town's red-light district. Today, it's a popular tourist attraction known for its unique shops, art galleries, and waterfront views. The street is actually built on stilts over Ketchikan Creek.

Here's a more detailed look at Creek Street:

History:

Creek Street's origins are rooted in Ketchikan's early history as a mining and fishing town. It became the town's red-light district, with numerous brothels lining the creek. Prohibition even led to some houses becoming speakeasies, with liquor being smuggled in by boat. Prostitution was eventually outlawed in 1953, and the area transitioned to a mixed residential and commercial area.

Current Attraction:

Now, Creek Street is a vibrant area with shops, art galleries, and restaurants. It's a popular spot for tourists, offering a glimpse into Ketchikan's past while showcasing local culture and art.

Unique Feature:

The street's most notable feature is its elevated boardwalk, built on wooden pilings over Ketchikan Creek. This structure reflects the historical legal requirement that brothel business be conducted above the creek.

Recognition:

Creek Street was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014, recognizing its historical significance.

The sights & sounds of people going by, the history of the place... like stepping into an old western & waiting for John Wayne to come out of one of the rooms.

It was a sunny day and although we didn't get to see the salmon, the street was still very peaceful despite the many other tourists. The boardwalk was shady and there was a lot of plant-life in the area. There were even signs hung up around that documented places of note back when it was still a red light district. 5/5 would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

This was definitely the highlight of our trip! So many salmons on this creek and the sea lions were feasting on them and so many onlookers watching in awe even though it was pouring that day. We were probably here for more than an hour just watching them

A must-do in Ketchikan. Besides the history, the quick walk about the creek offers beautiful views of old buildings and clear water underneath. Keep going into the Married Men's Trail and suddenly you're in the trees and away from the cruise ship crowds. Continue up the flights of stairs to the Eagle's Nest for pizzas and even more spectacular views.

Pretty cool section of Ketchikan and a snippet of history. Great to see the old town part and to see the salmon basically in a natural setting blows us away. Just a short walk from the cruise ship terminal.
