Our family’s entire experience at Shearwater Cove was utterly amazing. It was as if this Yurt utopia was designed for us to appreciate seaside nature amidst the treetops, unobstructed by any modern distractions. We all felt safe, every thing was super clean, and all the Yurt amenities were well appointed and eco friendly. The Yurt #7 was warm, and inviting with a woodsy interior and beds were super comfy. Loved all the good advice in pre-planning meals and every day it was delish. We fell in love kayaking to Humpy Cove watching the salmon spawn, birds and waterfalls. Alpine trail hike was adventurous only to offer top of the world views. The camp hosts and water taxi team were all awesome. Love the creative minds behind this Alaska memory and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts 💕.

Our stay was everything we could have hoped for-& more!

Emily was our boat captain & we really appreciated her stopping to show us a bald eagle up close & the murrelets & gulls that were circling around some good fishing, as well as explaining about the special geological history of the area.

The day we arrived, it was pouring rain & we had an afternoon kayak session scheduled.  We thought it might be cancelled but we loved Cooper’s attitude that this was “perfect kayaking weather!”  We appreciated his enthusiasm & he was so right!  On our kayak to the falls, we saw the sea otter affectionately named “old man of the sea”, river otters, a harbor seal, and the salmon swimming upstream.  Plus the waterfall was incredible with all that rain.  Cooper gave us all around great suggestions to make the most of our time at Shearwater Cove.

We stayed in a premier yurt and it was truly spectacular: we couldn’t decide if we liked the view from the deck or from the bedroom windows more. The beds were super comfortable & everything inside was so carefully thought out. One of our favorite memories was cooking pancakes with blueberries we had picked in the nearby bushes.

Rain or shine you will have the experience of a lifetime at Shearwater Cove!

This was an incredible beautiful setting for a couple's get away. The site is breathtaking with views of the fjord and lush rainforest surrounding the cove. We appreciated the privacy of each yurt's placement, and the lack of internet access pushed us to venture out and explore. We were so pleased with how well the yurt was equipped in order for us to make some really hearty meals, and definitely appreciated the heater and hot water available after exploring the rainy forest or kayaking in the rain. We really enjoyed the few trails and took advantage of the guided sea kayaking with Cali, who was so sweet and knowledgeable. We enjoyed seeing salmon spawning and experiencing the water fall close by. All in all, this was a once in a lifetime experience that gave us a different side of seward that didn't feel too touristy and allowed us to move at our own pace. I took off a star for the cost; we felt the price was worth it because we cannot imagine what it takes to maintain this site but the cost can be prohibitive for a return stay. It is definitely worth a one time splurge to experience this little gem.

Magical island! Everything was stunning, the boat ride there, the yurts, the kayaking. I was extremely impressed with how they built this all themselves and I am so happy I had the chance to see it in my lifetime. The yurts are amazing, the bed was extremely comfortable, I could have stayed in there forever. I had a premium yurt which had electricity and heating and the wall between the beds but all of them were amazing. Cooper was a great host and we were told they are making improvements to make it even better with more common areas for everyone to hand out. 10/10 would recommend.

My daughters and I thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at Shearwater Cove. Jason and Charity have thought of everything to feel immersed in nature with the comforts of home. The onsite host was super helpful instructing us on sea kayaking, which was a highlight. The 3 trails on the property were lovely. I'm 55 and of average fitness and was able to do all the onsite hiking and kayaking. You come to Alaska for the scenic beauty - this is the perfect place to experience it!

Amazing experience. Recommend to all who can do it. The visionaries who dreamt, then created, this eco-lodging utopia for sea kayakers really poured their souls into the project. Many happy memories for our family, kayaking and hiking the environs, and also cooking/playing games. The yurt had everything we needed. We plan to go back again. It's a special place.

Shearwater was absolutely magical! We stayed in the premier yurt and I'm so glad we did. The covered porch was great to have, which allowed us to be outside but still out of the rain and the beds were SO comfortable! Cooper and Emily were awesome crew and the whole experience was 10/10. Could not have asked for a better experience.
