It would be great IF you could actually book a room. They provide dates but no prices or opportunity to book a room. Maybe create an actual web site that allows for this. As is I am surprised you have any business at all. The location is awesome but worthless if unable to book a room.

Wonderful experience all-around. Beautiful location overlooking the Mississippi River; convenient to virtually everything we wanted to see and visit. Breakfasts were gourmet, even customized to a couple special dietary needs; our hosts were so accommodating and gracious. Rooms were lovely, bed was excellent -- we would definitely return in a heartbeat.

What a find? David & Inez run a delightful, ‘heavenly’ B&B on the top of the Mississippi River bluff you must try. An exceptional addition to the historic home awaits those that have booked the special room. Wonderful views, a couple sized whirlpool bath and completely private space awaits. A delightful, educated and inspirational couple will engage you to your heart’s content. The breakfast is very, very nice too. If you are traveling through SE Iowa, it’s worth a stop & stay! A top B&B in the country, literally!!!

The Squirrels Nest B&B in Burlington, Iowa was by far the best B&B I have ever visited anywhere in the US. We stayed a total of three nights for our wedding and would have stayed forever if we could. The view is spectacular and the penthouse was the most comfortable with a hot tub, private bathroom equipped with all the amenities, kitchenette, comfy bed, tv, air conditioning, squirrel decor and sound proof room. The breakfasts were most delicious with attention to detail that makes your head spin..our wedding morning plate was a beautiful omelette with heart and squirrel fruit adornments and home baked sweet breads, juice and coffee, bacon..and the owners got up extra early just to accommodate our needs. The absolute best part of our stay was the owners Inez and David, who were the most fascinating and warm people we have ever met. They made our honeymoon the most special and we wouldn't hesitate to come back for years to come.

From the warm welcome even before we arrived to the "special chocolate chip cookies" in our room the stay is one we won't forget! ||||Our hostess was everything other reviewers have shared. I was there for a genology project which she even helped with prior to my arrival. ||||Our room was spotless. The shower is original to the house and not one to linger in as it is very small.||||Our complete breakfast included fresh black raspberries from the garden and wonderful conversation with the host and hostess. ||||While the Squirels Nest "penthouse" was booked during our visit, I would highly recommend it..the view, the soaking tub for two with the view should not be missed.

My husband's job has him spending a lot of time in hotels but this was his first time staying in a bed and breakfast so he wasn't sure what to expect. There was absolutely nothing to find fault with. We were in the top room and the view was amazing. The bed was very comfortable and the furnishing were so much fun (lots of squirrels!) Our hosts were so welcoming and the breakfast was delicious. You can tell they put their heart and soul into everything they do. Will plan on going back.

If you want to have a bird's eye view of the Mississippi River in Burlington, Iowa, put the Squirrel's Nest Bed and Breakfast on your list. The Penthouse Suite is one of the most scenic rooms I have experienced anywhere. An expanse of windows allows you to see the river plus green lawns and woods. The en suite bathroom, jacuzzi, balcony and mini-kitchen cover all the bases in this accommodation. Inez Metzger goes all-out on breakfast with squirrels made out of melon, colorful fruit salad, omelets, baked goods and a selection of juices and hot beverages. She and her husband make you feel like honored guests in their home. The only downside is that they are closed for the winter. You will be able to experience this lovely venue April through November. Oh, did I forget to mention the home-made mouth-watering chocolate chip cookies that await all guests?

We had a great one night stay at Inez and David’s Squirrel’s Nest Bed and Breakfast. The location on a tree-lined street, up on the bluff overlooking the Mississippi River is charming. The home is lovingly appointed with comfortable furniture and family photos. There are magnificent views of the Mississippi River from the penthouse suite, the kitchen and the dining room. ||We stayed in the Bear’s Den, which is a room on the 2nd floor of the house with a king bed, and its own bathroom. The view is to the quiet residential street and giant trees in front of the house. The bathroom is a small 1920’s built bathroom with a small shower stall, small sink, and toilet. Very small compared to modern hotel standards. But amazingly perfect for a private bathroom inside of a family home. Inez was direct and up front about the quirks of the room and plumbing. Including that the water heater was on the other side of the house and would take a long time to reach the room, but once it arrived, hot would be very hot. The bed was very comfortable. The decor of the room cozy, particularly with shelves and shelves of books. The location of the home was very quiet and peaceful.||In the morning Inez set out a gorgeous breakfast with made-to-order omelettes, fresh cut fruit, coffee, tea, juices, and a rhubarb pastry. The presentation of the meal was done so thoughtfully, and we had meaningful conversation with both Inez and David as we ate our breakfasts.||We highly recommend Squirrel’s Next Bed and Breakfast as a great place to stay in Burlington, IA.
