Read reviews on-line as I always do when booking a hotel. Reviews were decent and the price was average and the location was great. Checked in with no problem. Check the beds as I always do. Looked clean. Sat down on the bed for a few minutes and got up to get my phone, turned around and there was a bed bug crawling across the pillow. Obviously a problem when they are actively crawling on the bed. Grabbed my stuff and immediately left! Told the front desk clerk to cancel my reservation and why and he didn't act surprised. Not the place to stay if you don't want bed bugs. This was very disappointing because we usually have a good experience with Choice hotels. Never again!

Front desk was helpful. 30$ to check in before noon. Yikes. usually hotels wouldn’t charge you for that but it’s understandable. quiet rooms until it got loud at night didnt mind it as much. One thing I hated was how loud people were at 6am when trying to sleep. Hot tub wasn’t bad except it should be cleaned more, lots of hair in it. Bed spring in my room was weak not really comfortable for a queen size. Breakfast wasn’t awful. Juice was so water downed. Overall it’s not bad just for the price I spent and fees it needs to be cleaned more. But the fees too are kinda a pain. 154$ and a 50$ holding fee for one night that hasn’t cleared is a joke.

The room was clean. It's an older hotel so there is some wear, but considering the price I was very happy. I think there was a horse in the room above me, but that didn't go on for long. Maybe I should have asked for a 2nd floor room. Breakfast was typical for this type hotel. It was not bad and there was a variety of choices.

The location was ideal and accommodating for families with pets. Additionally the fact that Many families with kids and pets were there was reassuring. The continental breakfast was great especially when we are having to go out to eat so often on vacation. Pool was crowded at times but not when we went. Gym was under utilized but was ok with me since I was the only one in there. However the hotel smelled like smoke and a few building issues. The ac/heater was finicky, and kept having to adjust. some of the side doors were not working. Since we have a dog that needs to go out it was not ideal to use the main entrance. Overall pretty average although staff was friendly and helpful.

Had to book a last minute room as the Hampton inn next door was awful. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The pool area was nice and the hot tub was hot and worked (unlike the Hampton). The room was clean and nice and again I cannot explain how nice the staff was.

My husband and I have stayed at this location on a number of occasions.

Each time, I noticed a heavyset black woman that worked in the dining area would always look so miserable and unapproachable so I just avoided her.

On Thanksgiving Day, that changed when I was getting coffee creamer and she approached me and began to complain about other guests and felt that they were taking too much coffee creamer and tea. She was really put out by this. I later went back for additional creamer for my coffee as I brought my French press and while she was sitting at a dining table in the dining area, she proceeded to try to confront me in front of other guests stating that I was probably the person who was taking too much creamer. I informed her that she will not be speaking to me that way. A screaming match ensued. She doesn't wear a name badge and when asked about her name, She refused to identify herself. I confirmed her name is Sandy with two other employees.

I will not be staying at this hotel ever again. I do not feel safe as you have an employee who cannot control herself or her anger and should be terminated. It is never appropriate to complain to a guest about anything, let alone other guests. It is wildly inappropriate to scream at a guest. Why was she sitting at a dining table when she should be working?

When I approached management (Chalfaun? ) about this issue, I was spoken to in a very condescending tone as if this was some kindergarten squabble on the playground and I should just suck it up and deal with it. That will not happen. You have a liability issue as long as that employee remains on your property.

My husband and I will be returning to Ottawa within the next week or two and we'll be staying at a different hotel.

Positive: The staff was helpful in changing our room Negative: We changed rooms after finding items left in the bathroom and the tile in the bathroom floor felt as if we would fall through. The second room was better but tile there was loose as well. Potato cakes were mushy. Fruit was overripe.

First the hotel says they are dog friendly but are not. Checked the pool area to see if there were any signs saying no pets and there are none. Then I proceeded to call the front desk and ask if my dog could go to the pool and was yes then they kicked us out the pool shortly afterwards. The manager fined me $250 because of this event and was very rude. Also my room had no heat, the breakfast was gross, there is no sauna as advertised and my room key had to be reprogrammed after every couple uses. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
