Okay so you know when you find a stylist who really understands what you’re trying to do with your hair and then meets and often exceeds your expectations? That’s Cam Robert for me. In addition to being an incredibly cool person with a wide range of creative pursuits, Cam is also a very kind and lovely person and an absolute joy to chat with when in their chair!

I have very specific needs for my hair that requires someone who is both an adept barber and a coloring master. I have very thin hair on top, that is a little curly, and I shave the back and sides of my head to skin. You’d be surprised at how many barbers get flustered when you ask them to shave your head like that, especially if you’re at all a little femme. The first time I was in their chair, Cam listened to my needs, got it right away, and gave me the best haircut I’ve had in a very, very long time. They also are really great at answering hair questions and teaching me how to do stuff with my hair. I was curious about going curly instead of always straightening my hair, and Cam showed me how to style it and helped me find a product that works for me! I would continue to return to Cam, if even just for the haircut alone.

On top of that, I feel the most euphoric with bright, colorful hair, and I’ve been lucky enough to have Cam give me the most beautiful prism rainbows and hombres and joy on top of my head that I could ever ask for! They’ve even matched my hair color to some funky glasses I have! I’m at the point now where I just give Cam a prompt and let them run with it. Their gorgeous creations are always delightful, and I am overjoyed every time I look in the mirror!

If you’re looking for a master of hair color and someone who will give you an amazing cut, go to Cam! Highly recommended!!!

I have never been to a Salon in my entire life and I’m thankful for my first experience I was able to come here! The vibe is so friendly and lively! Staff is so perky , sweet and accommodating! The interior is very cozy and cute too! I had the privilege of working with Nadia and she absolutely nailed it! Nadia was attentive , determined and professional about achieving my vision for me to get the exact look I desired! Took her time and made sure to go above and beyond! Thank you Nadia!! Was nervous since this was my first time going to a proper hair salon to get my curly hair styled, and the minute I walked in all that nervousness just washed away. The vibes are immaculate and so welcoming; everyone was so friendly and accommodating. My stylist, Nadia, absolute magician. The way she styled my hair was minimalistic (which I requested, didn't want to make any big changes just yet) but she did it in such a way that it complemented my entire face and just completely changed the game. I've gotten several compliments since I left the salon. She was so attentive and kept checking in with me before they made any big cuts. They had such a gentle and warm vibe too, and they were so patient with me which I really appreciated since I kept asking questions about how to take care of my curls and the process of everything. She explained everything so clearly and their examples/tips were very realistic and budget friendly. Absolutely adore her and would recommend her, I hope their meals are scrumptious for the rest of the year. Overall, definitely got my money's worth and I'll definitely be coming back here despite the long commute.

I don't usually write reviews, but I was very happy with my haircut. I don't live in Chicago, but I really wanted to get a haircut while I was here. I researched salons and chose this one because it seemed like a safe and creative environment-and it really was.
I don't speak English fluently, so I let the team know about my language barrier at the start of the appointment. That didn't stop Moon from being super friendly and answering all my questions, even if she had to talk to both me and my sibling.
Moon was very thorough, and it had been a long time since I felt like someone had spent so much time and care on my hair.
Everyone at the salon was welcoming, and the atmosphere was beautiful, with paintings and photos all around. I felt really comfortable in a space where I usually feel a bit intimidated. I'm happy and hope you all continue to do great work for your clients and your community.

Love this place! Super queer and inclusive, which is important for haircuts specifically in my opinion. The stylists aren't limited by restrictive "men/women" haircuts or pricing. I've been seeing Sergio who always has the most fabulous outfits and makes sure i'm happy with the length and texture.

I cannot say enough good things about Dante & the Barbara&Barbara team. From the first interaction, everyone was so kind and customer service oriented. Dante was incredible! I just moved to Chicago and I spent weeks searching for a good salon for a curly cut. Dante was extremely helpful and educational - he (patiently) answered all of my questions and offered great suggestions based on what I was looking for. He took the time to explain what different things meant (my hair knowledge is very limited) and made sure I was happy with the results. Very well kept salon, could not recommend more! Very affordable for the quality of service, as well.

This place is not actually LGBT friendly or even safe for trans people . I went here in the fall and had an appointment and was told they couldn’t do anything for me then told me to use WD40 in my hair which would have created chemical burns and ruined my hair . My friend who is in the beauty industry helped me by helping me restore my hair with Olaplex which actually worked and restored my hair I am convinced there is no way they would’ve said this to a non trans person. If you are in the LGBTQ community i would stay away from this place.
