Well located charming old home with a wonderful innkeeper. Marlee is there to please whether it be her superb breakfasts or help with sightseeing. We were a family of five adults who had the second floor to ourselves. Nice and quiet. Seward offers many nature experiences and a wonderful aquarium. We stayed 4 nights in later part of August. Would definitely return to this B&B again.

This bed and breakfast is like staying in someone else's home so it may not be for everyone, but we had a delightful time. The location is great, within walking distance to the boat harbor, Sea Life Center, shops and restaurants. Marlee was extrememely helpful, going above and beyond in hosting. She provided tips and answered questions, had a stack of menus from area restaurants which was helpful, and cooked a delicious made to order breakfast. She booked our Kenai Fjords tour and passed on the 20% discount to us, which was a significant savings. When I asked about a laundromat, she even offered to help with our laundry needs. We stayed in a downstairs room which meant walking through the living and kitchen areas to get to the shared bathroom. If you can live with that, I highly recommend the Ballaine House to you. My only regret is that we did not allow more than 1 1/2 days in Seward.

Marley goes way up and beyond in her hospitality and breakfasts. Our beds and pillows were very comfortable. Marley also helped us arrange our boat tour of the bay. Ballaine House is ideally located in a residential area, which is an easy walk to the harbor or to the downtown. It is a perfect location as you do not want to stay in the noisy harbor area itself, nor in noisy downtown. For us, we will always stay at Ballaine House when in Seward.

Staying at the Ballaine house was a wonderful experience. It is the best bed and breakfast I've ever stayed at. The warm historic home is conveniently located downtown. The rooms are nicely decorated, the atmosphere is cozy and the breakfast was fantastic (order whatever and as much as you want). Our hosts were very helpful in providing information and also securing reservations If you are on the fence about which place to stay in Seward, I highly recommend the Ballaine house, you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I stayed three night there. Hostess Brie cooks fantastic breakfast she even have a real menu where you can use to order. Yes house is old but very well maintained. Some people worries about shared bathroom on the second floor, but it did not matter us at all. Highly recommended!

This is only 8 months over due- but better late than never. If you want an old-fashioned bed and breakfast experience, ie: delicious FULL breakfast, cozy rooms and " community" bath facilities- or even if you don't- please come and stay here if you can. It's worth it just to be under Bree's (house-mom extraordinare) care. She will take amazing care of you. She knows EVERYTHING (and I think everyone) about Seward and Alaska in general and can give you any advice you need about stuff to do AND book it for you, AND will pass on the discount Ballaine House gets from the business it books with. Bree also will make you just about anything you want for breakfast (she must have been a chef in previous life because the food is amazing). This is the best bang-for-your buck place to stay, and Marlee the owner is SO accommodating of any scheduling needs you may have. I would go back there in a heartbeat. Please give this place a try- you will not be sorry

I can only recommand Ballaine House. The room was very clean with tv, wifi, towels and a queen bed. Of course you have to share the bathroom but there is 2 for 9 rooms total and the upstair one was also very clean.|The walls can be a little thin and it may seem like a big collocation (only with more respectful roomates) so if you're more of a loner you may not like it but than again nobody forces you to actually interact with your "roomates".|Marilee wasn't physically there but she was very helpful sending informations by email and asking about my day.|Also everything is at a asking distance.|Way better than any european hostel i've been to!

we spent a few days at this B&B. The room was big, clean, quiet and the beds comfy. And an extremely fair price. Breakfast was the best we had in all of Alaska. They have information on everything and also discounts! And as it was still very cold they very generously helped out with extra jackets for the full day boat tour. It certainly helped us to make the most of our time there. The only downside is that 4 rooms share one bathroom.
