This B & B is more of an hostel for homeless families from the city, its is not a place for visitors to the city. The owner has no respect for people staying there. We had made a reservation because we had a one day stopover flying from Hawaii to Europe, when we booked the owner was 'away' so a regular guest took our booking, because our flight arrived at 5.45am we paid for the extra night and was instructed to knock on the door when we arrived, the owner would be be notified of our arrival time and be expecting us, his pet dog would awake him. ||We were greeted with hostility the owner looked very rough he did not want to let us in and slammed the door in our face. We had nowhere to go there is no other accomodation in the vacinity and we had heavy bags, and had also arranged to be picked up from there that morning for an organised excursion. We had to persist, he again tried to just slam the door in our face, eventually we got him to check his diary there was our booking showing our arrival at 6am. He then walked us through to our room, we were carrying the bags, he just opened swing doors and just let them swing back hitting us hard. Although the advertised price is $60 a night he demanded $84 a night, we had checked the price when we booked so refused, we did not have any more cash and when we said we had booked it from inside the visitor centre he accepted $60 per night. His parting word were ''you will not be getting any breakfast''. We were not presented with keys to our room or entrance door and found some dropped in to our room sometimwe before we awoke. The rooms had been cleaned but were not very pleasent. The furnishing, decoration and bedding are very old, sparten, and generally unpleasent. The light fitting was broken and probably dangerous. Throughout there is an heavy 'tobacco' smell. During our day there we did see three residents, all seemed to be down and out, one we chatted to said that the place was referred to her as emergency accomodation whilst she looked for somewhere to live. ||||Like previous reviewers we did not feel any of the following : welcome, comfortable, safe, or our possession secure in our absence.

Rude owner, we paid for a month up front. My wife had to serve a week in the beginning of the month for a violation. I called to check on our possessions they said they cleared the room. (Three weeks in advanced) threw away our possessions n took our months rent money, before they rudely hung up they said "we aren't giving you your money back". It's the ninth day of the month of May. I was told the workers/owner rent/ live there and are drunks n hit on women when they get the chance. If your a homeless hooker I would say this place is great. For people with cleaniness n chivarly don't send your companion to here.

After I checked in a few hours later.I went to pick up my bags it was night. I drug a bag in and went to get the rest one of the workers said it was wrong door but it was ok he helped me Carry my bags up the stairs. This native lady that helps runs the place was trying to stop him and told him to make me carry my bags to the other door, three heavy bags.she was obviously drunk when I walk up the stairs following the guy and there were 4 other people there she said out loud the she looked me up and said I had a bunch of tresspassing, she couldn't say what my name was. All I said to her is your drunk. She pulled out a tazer out of her pocket and drunkily turned it on toward me. The worker kept things calm said don't mind her helped me to my room. He put my stuff in my room she follow and came is my room holding my door open. She was acting crazy. I stayed there 6 days the place was dirty bed bugs and cockroaches in the bathroom. I left a day early they would not copensate on anything after everything I went through there. It is not professional to talk dirty laundry in front of people or appear drunk in front of clients, with out saying pulling out a weapon out at defenseless paying customer. if you been there you know who I'm talking about I think she does the books. She was very rude even sober if she is a owner she shouldn't deal with the clients if not she should be fired. I never even got a apology from her after she was sober. There are better and cheaper bed and breakfasts/motel here in Anchorage. Look around before you consider that place For me the man owner was too busy watching a football game to listen me, hee just said it was a misunderstanding. The was one nice guy there that works there wish I knew his name. He kept a bad situation from becoming worse. I would never go back there. It is disgusting.

I was told that I had reserved a "two room suite with a bathroom in between" for my family (7 people, several young children). When we checked in, it was obvious that the website pictures were old, as the office, the manager and the rooms were much more dated than the pictures showed. The rooms were stuffy and smelly and I was told to open the window to let air in, even though the window did not have a screen, the room was facing the street (right next to the sidewalk) and they were low enough for someone to climb in.||Having been told that I had a two room suite, I was not informed or aware that anyone else would be sharing the area (including bathroom) with us, which turned out to be the case (although the manager was not sure whether anyone was staying there or not!). Having assumed that we were the only ones using the bathroom, we left our items in the bathroom and did not lock our rooms during the night (so that the children wouldn't lock themselves out when they went to the bathroom).||The "breakfast" area was not clean when we arrived, although we informed the staff and it was cleaned up.||I feel that my reservation was misrepresented as a "suite" when it wasn't, a safe resolution to the stuffiness was not provided and the manger didn't seem to be keeping track of who was in his rooms. This put my family in a potentially unsafe situation.||One person or a couple could probably save a few dollars by staying here (taking extra caution to be safe), but don't take your family.

My wife and I stayed here in 2008 and it was just the pits!! Owner was really wierd!! Strange folks hanging around too! No screen on our window and the owner was next door with someone during the night around 1 a.m. knocking out drywall!! I called him and it stopped, but please!! I told him upon leaving you will be hearing from my credit card co. as we are disputing the charges. Got my $$$ back and would never recommend this pit to anyone!! Seemed like a bunch of re-hab drug recovery people staying there.

The Bed and "Breakfast" is located in midtown Anchorage, which means you are in the part of town you actually don't want to be. People you don't want to meet are hanging around the parking lot and this little motel-like B&B is having paper thin walls, so you can hear everything.||It felt like the person above our room was training for a marathon, you could hear any movement. ||The B&B owner is a strange person, too. I guess he was drunk, maybe not, but there was definetely something wrong with him. He moved very slowly and his speech was loud but slurred. ||And after we payed him, he and his employee went into the backyard drank and talked aloud untill 2 a.m.||I mean, the owner shouldn't be a person who keeps the guests awake because he's drinking in the yard.||We stayed there in the first place, because he wrote it was $60 a night. The website www.arcticbb.com isn't up to date, it's $89 now! Me and my travel partner were too tired to look for another hotel, so we gave it a try.||As mentioned, we hardly slept, because it was so noisy.||||The Breakfast consicts of a plastic box with 2 pears, 2 bananas and 2 muffins. ||||I have to say though, that the room and bath was kind of clean and they had wi-fi internet. The facilities were just incredebly old and you didn't feel safe at all.||||My advice is, try not to stay in any B&B or family run hotel in downtown or midtown Anchorage, because they look all the same. If I should visit Anchorage again, I will look for a hotel out of town and I encourage you to do the same.

During my stay at the Artic Bed and breakfast I was unable to sleep. I am pretty sure some lady was attacked in the parking lot, as well as, a generally loud and disrespectful owner and maintenance person who seemed to be drunk or on drugs. There really was not a typical breakfast that I had become associated with a true bed and breakfast. I also had property mysteriously disappear from my room. Mcdonalds was pretty close so I had to brush my teeth there due to terrible facilities. I also ate a real breakfast there.

The office isn't that appealing, the house flooring is not so great. Cheap rate got us there, so one night was enough. No personal home feeling. Creepy one big window with someone's back yard right there! Room was not big enough for two beds, kind of cramped space. Bathroom was very big but cold, so glad for hot water. I lost my jewelery somewhere in the room and couldn't find it in the poorly lit room. Not much for breakfast either, just cold stuff. If the rates don't go up next time I wanna stay there, I will because it isn't fair to spend so much on a room that you only stay to sleep in. Besides McDonalds is just a 5 min. walk! Some shopping centers are nearby and the Bear Tooth Theatrepub is also not that far away! Another plus is the parking is just right there in front and on the side of building.
