Definitely has a lot of potential. It’s not the cleanest but pretty sure the lady runs this place herself. Overpriced for what it is, but you’re literally stack dab in the middle of town. she was there for all the issues and got it fixed quick. She should probably do a check out lists for guests to help her out a bit. Maybe get a cleaner for the rooms but overall it was a good stay.

The woman who answered the phone stated that her insurance company prohibits registered service dogs that are more than "that" size (she couldn't specify the actual size). We are having our kitchen remodeled and were told late by the contractor that there will be fumes and we can't be in the home until it is dry. Our daughter is 23 with a disability and her service dog has papers. All hotels and property owners who rent know that it is unlawful to prohibit a disabled person who has a service dog; however, we do not elect to stay at places where the owners/managers prefer to violate the law in this regard. We simply look for a different place. After we secured a location, I went to Google to leave this information in a review; after seeing another review with photos of the condition of this place, it was a reminder to make sure to read all reviews before booking.

If you are looking for unique then this is the place you need to stay. Loved that we had use of the parlour so we were able to hang out there instead of in our room. There is also a nice outdoor deck area with a table that was wonderful to spend time at. They also had a great kitchen so we were able to put leftovers in the refrigerator. Coffee was ready every morning (Loved that!) They also had a couple flavored creams available. We had 2 rooms and they were very clean. The beds were very comfortable. Loved all the antiques and the vintage feel.||Our only complaint is that the walls are VERY thin and you can hear everything the people in the next rooms are doing/saying. (even if they are talking low) There are a lot of stairs you need to go up to get to the rooms which was difficult for my mom (who is 82) ||The owners are Wonderful and very easy to work with. They have done a great job making The Inn a great little place.

The Inn At Smokey Row is a hidden retreat on the second floor of an antique store in the historical small town of Lemont, IL. Just a 40 minute train ride from downtown Chicago and a world away. So many fun bars, restaurants and shops just steps away from the Inn. It is owned/managed by a lovely couple. Rates are very reasonable, collectible antique decor everywhere and a parlor type gathering area for all guests. Especially nice if you are traveling with friends or family and want to stay up late talking, playing games or chatting over morning coffee. Must be able to do stairs. Enjoyed the fully stocked small kitchen with lots of goodies. Bathrooms are very nice.

I was stressing out a few weeks before our trip to Illinois. I didn't want to stay in a no-tell-motel near Lemont, and I didn't want to burden friends. My BFF since 1967 Denise Polk Taylor and I planned on going to Lemont for the Labor Day weekend. We have never gone back as adults, and this was our chance to go back in time and hang out in Lemont and pretend we were kids again. Yes, we are getting old! Anyway, I found this amazing place on Trip Advisor, and at first, I thought, "this must be a joke because none of my friends have ever told me about this place." But I called Sue and found out that that The Inn at Smokey Row REALLY is a place to stay in Lemont! I prepared myself for the worse (because I'm a glass half empty person), and when Gary brought us the adorable stairway to our room, I was brought back in time! I felt like I was 2 blocks away on Illinois Street at my grandma's house! I instantly fell in love, and we hadn't even gotten to our room yet! I love the pretty paintings of the beautiful Lemont churches that cover the wall as you walk up the stairs. Such a nice touch. Our room overlooked Stephen Street. It was a beautiful room with a Sleep Number bed, Jacuzzi tub, lots of sweet antiques, original hardwood floors... I felt like I was walking back in time, which is what my BFF and I wanted! We had access to the living room, back porch and kitchen. The kitchen is updated and nice. We were able to use the refrigerator for our own personal items. We chose to not have the "breakfast" portion of the B&B. And below our room was the antique store that Gary & Sue own. I was in 7th heaven! Let me say, "thank you so much Gary & Sue for making this trip become EXTRA special for Denise and me because your adorable B&B was the absolute perfect icing on the cake for our trip back to Good-Old Lemont, IL!"

We discovered the Inn at Smokey Row on a getaway weekend from Chicago. It is located in the quaint and well-preserved main historic artery in Lemont--within walking distance to restaurants, pubs, and recreation. The owners, Gary and Sue Roy, own and manage the bed and breakfast, which is situated upstairs from the Smokey Row antique store. They are fabulous hosts--very friendly and accommodating. They are also active with the local historical society, so they can provide a lot of history on the area--they even guided us on two historic walking tours!||||Right across the street from the inn are several restaurants--a recommended Italian restaurant, an Eastern European restaurant, and a pub. Additionally, a local wine/craft beer store ("Bottles") will let you pick out a wine or craft beer and drink it on site at their indoor tables or outside on the patio on a warm day. The service there was very good and the wines were decent and reasonably priced (most under $20) --we definitely recommend stopping in for a drink. You can also visit the Lemont Historical Society or visit a local Hindu temple which is open to the public. ||||We were very impressed with Lemont--we were surprised that we had never been there or heard about how lovely it is--it is a total gem waiting to be discovered. Most of the storefronts are impeccably maintained—it felt like we were stepping back in time. It somewhat reminded us of a teeny, low-key Galena. (without the tourist mob!)||||The inn itself is lovely--there are 4 rooms upstairs from an antique store, several with whirlpool tubs. It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We slept very well (although it got a little noisy when the bar closed next door--it did not last long and it added to the ambiance.) We had access to a parlor and a back patio, where we spent time reading and relaxing. Our hosts offered us drinks and made us feel right at home. Sue baked cookies and she left out everything for us to enjoy wine (if we brought any home), plus all of our coffee fixings before breakfast. Breakfast was delicious and never-ending! We ate several delicious courses in the parlor, enjoying banter with Sue and Gary. ||||The inn is located very near the historic I&M canal bike/walking path, which provides access to several quarry fishing sites and picnic areas. The path will also take you down toward Lockport, home of the Illinois State Museum. The museum in Lockport is located in the Gaylord Building, the oldest commercial building in the corridor one of very few National Trust Historic sites in Illinois. We also had dinner in Lockport, at the popular Tallgrass restaurant--it's an easy 9 mile jaunt from Lemont, whether you use your bike or motor vehicle.||||All in all, we highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from Chicago for a night or two and go someplace quiet and relaxing. We will definitely be back!

Attending a wedding anniversary party in Lemont, we wanted a place to stay overnight after the party and didn't have any expectation of more than "just a place to sleep". We were thrilled to find someplace so good that it merits another stay just for the charm of the inn itself and the hospitality of innkeepers Sue and Gary. Their inn is located in the center of town, which is very convenient, and yet -- a real plus! -- the way they have remodeled and decorated the property gives it a very private and countrified air. We didn't get the personalized gourmet breakfast during this stay, simply because it didn't fit with our other plans for the day, but along with morning coffee/tea/juice, Sue provided us with some excellent pumpkin bread that she herself baked and that certainly made us WANT to go for her full breakfast another time. Pros and cons? ALL pros and NO cons!
