Honestly the rudest people ever. The phone number on the page is apparently a cell phone. When I called asking for information, the woman was VERY rude. Said β€œThis is cell phone, okay? Cell phone! Cell phone! Cell phone! I’m busy, okay!?” I gasped, she laughed, and then hung up on me. Tried to call back twice and she just let the phone ring and ring and ring. No respectable or professional staff means the establishment is most likely the same. Take your business elsewhere, these people don’t deserve your money.

We arrived in Springfield late and this was the first hotel we saw on July of 2022. I figured anything would be fine for a few hours of sleep and a shower. Female staff very unfriendly and when paying for room she pretty much yelled " No Complaints and no refunds!" i asked if there was something wrong with the room, she said no. I should have trusted my gut and just walked out, but I thought how bad could it be. Ha . We opened the and I immediately could not stand the odor in the room. We looked around and I pulled back the bedding, which obviously had not been laundered in awhile. Every thing was broken; cabinets, chairs , bathroom cabinets. The place was filthy! I had to use the bathroom from being on the road and put my purse on the counter. Before I was even done using the facilities there was a strange bug on my purse, in a matter of seconds. There was no way I could ever sleep in there unscathed. We locked the room and never even went back to the office. Left and found a different motel, would rather walk away from the $55. Returned key in the morning and told the male worker how disgusting the room was , he didn't seem to even care. Don't waste your time, go into the town and find a safer and cleaner place for 20.00 more!

Title: "A Disappointing Night at Motel Pioneer"

If you're seeking a motel with a vibe reminiscent of the infamous Bates Motel, you might want to steer clear of Motel Pioneer. In fact, the lack of traffic here lately should have been a warning sign. Instead, consider looking into extended stay hotels on South Dirksen, where you might find better prices and accommodations.

My recent experience at Motel Pioneer left me thoroughly unimpressed. As I entered, I couldn't shake the feeling that this place had seen better days. The dimly lit hallways and outdated decor didn't create a sense of nostalgia; instead, they felt more like a time warp to a less appealing era.

The hotel rooms at Motel Pioneer were far from impressive. They were cramped and felt neglected, with outdated furnishings and a distinct lack of cleanliness. The whole ambiance was far from inviting, and it was difficult to shake off the uncomfortable feeling that I was in a place with a shady past.

In comparison to the more modern amenities available in extended stay hotels on South Dirksen, Motel Pioneer falls short. The lack of convenience and the overall rundown atmosphere made for a disappointing stay. If you're looking for a comfortable and pleasant experience, I'd strongly advise exploring other options in the area. Motel Pioneer simply doesn't live up to its reputation, or any Bates Motel vibes for that matter.

I visited the Lansing, Illinois location at 17600 S. Torrence Ave. on Friday, April 16th. The conditions at this location are absolutely horrible!!! The outer surroundings appear to be very unsafe and there is gang graffiti sprawled across some of doors of this establishment. The outside of this motel complex is aesthetically unpleasant and in deplorable shape. I rented Room #23 for 4 hours from 12 PM - 4 PM. I used my credit card to pay the $45 lodging fee. Upon entering my room, I immediately noticed that there wasn't a telephone and the chain door guard was missing from the inside. Also, only two extremely cheap bars of soap were provided. These soap bars were razor thin and small enough to fit into the palm of my hand. In addition, I noticed a thin pubic hair follicle present on one the folded towels. Even more disgusting, I noticed what appeared to be a small drop of dried semen present on one of the lamp cabinets. Anyway, at exactly 3:50 PM as I was in the process of preparing to leave, one of the motel managers was pounding on my door like he was law enforcement serving an arrest warrant. Apparently, he came to my motel room to issue an "unfriendly" reminder that it was time for me to leave. His Gestapo approach was very embarrassing and uncomfortable! I felt just like a tenant being evicted for non-payment of rent. As I attempted to explain to him that it was 10 minutes remaining before my check out time, he insisted that I leave anyway. My female companion asked me to request 2 hours of additional time because she was not prepared to vacate. Once I returned to the main office to check out, I asked the front desk manager for 2 hours of additional time for the room. He said that it would cost $30. However, he refused to accept my credit card and stated that I could only pay in cash. So, I gladly refused and left this establishment with no intention of ever returning. The two managers and the one female front desk clerk are of Middle Eastern descent. They are most likely Arab. I am an African-American male and strongly believe that the managers' actions toward me were a product of racial discrimination. If I purchased a room the first time using my credit card, why did the manager insist that I only pay in cash when additional time was requested? Also, why did the other manager come to my room and attempt to force me to leave before my time completely expired? This appears to be a common trend with non-black businesses that establish themselves in predominantly African-American communities or in external regions heavily patronized by African-Americans. They are "only" interested in our consumer dollars, do not value our business and feel entitled to openly disrespect us based upon their implicit racial biases or stereotypical misconceptions. So in closing, I do not recommend the Lansing, Illinois location. I am giving it the lowest possible rating! They racially profiled the wrong African-American this time!

Rooms are small and not the greatest. Okay for a short stay at a reasonable price but I would not want to stay here very long. The room included a double bed, old style TV approximately 30", a small stove, fridge, sink, a little bit of counter space and a tiny bathroom with a shower stall. The TV stand doubled as a dresser and there were also 2 nightstands with a drawer each. Cable is included but no internet.

Room seemed clean, cheap place to lay your head for the night, wifi didn't work and had to pay cash for the room. My room had a full size fridge stove and microwave, flat screen TV.

US20Riders

Two US 20 Riders rode our motorcycles from Chicago to Springfield, late June 2019. We got there just after sunset. We got a double bed room, without any reservation. The rate was fair, $55.|The WiFi was very slow, the room was not great, with a lot of minor negative details, as you’d expect from that type of motels. The most negative point was the noise of the air conditioning unit in the window as well as the noise from the fridge.|The staff was not particularly friendly.|It was nice to be able to park our motorcycles right in front of your room.|You are walking distance from a bar across the street (Weebles Bar & Grill), which is nice. There is also a general store up the road, pretty close by.|For a night sleep while riding motorcycles on Route 66, this location is OK.

We are driving now and the weather is bad so we pulled off the road in Springfield, Il. This motel was the first one we came to and was told they didn't have any rooms available (there were 5 cars in the lot) nor were the rooms large enough to accommodate a wheelchair (how do they know how large the wheelchair is). My next call will be to the better business bureau.
