We had our wedding reception here in October and we’re looking for a more historic, traditional vibe. The downtown Oak Park area is so cute and bustling. Not as congested as downtown Chicago, with a parking garage for guests located conveniently next door! Win. It checked a lot of boxes with those features alone.

The total ease of communication tied with the fantastic end result (see photos) means if you are on the fence about booking here, book. You will not regret it. Woody was so detail oriented, yet laid back. Always replies quickly and thoroughly, never seemed irritated with any requests. He is the planning mastermind and has such great support staff one the day (shoutout to Ryan and Stephanie!!)

Our guests raved about our food, which we chose to do buffet style (for the large appetite of our bridal party/guests lol) and I agree that it was absolutely delicious. I think it makes a huge difference on food quality for wedding vendors when the food is prepared and cooked onsite- their kitchen allows them to do this. They have so many choices when you do your tasting and suggested menus but they told me from the beginning that everything is totally customizable. Chef’s kiss.

Our bartenders were attentive and wonderful and concocting whatever our guests desired. I heard no complaints on drink quality all night. Big shoutout to the bartenders, as they definitely helped keep the party going.

I always wanted a live band for my reception and their ballroom totally allows for that. Acoustics and sound were amazing. No issues at all with the sound all night long. Our guests danced their hearts out. We danced our hearts out. I cannot rave enough.

Book the Nineteenth Century!!

My husband and I were engaged for years and we looked at dozens of venues but we never quite connected to any place until we walked into the Nineteenth Century Club. Located in lovely Oak Park, it is directly across from a beautiful piece of land called Austin Gardens - a PERFECT location for outdoor photos.

On October 8th 2022, we hosted 250+ people and you would never know it was one of the largest events the Club has hosted. Everything ran smoothly and our guests had an amazing time.

Filled with antique charm but with all the modern conveniences you can ask for, we knew immediately that this was the place. We worked almost exclusively with Woody who is just phenomenal at his job. At the time of our wedding he was both the coordinator AND the chef. As a coordinator he is thorough, honest, and incredibly accommodating. He has dozens of “preferred vendors” that know this venue inside and out. As a chef - let’s just say we STILL get compliments on the food which is saying a lot as we had a Sicilian/Filipino wedding - two cultures where food is KING. It was delicious! Our experience with Woody was a blessing - so much so we consider him a friend to this day!

PLEASE DO NOT PASS THIS PLACE UP. Take a tour. Meet with Woody. I promise you will not regret it.

After looking at several very pricey venues in the city, we stumbled upon The Nineteenth Century in Oak Park. And we were simply blown away! It is city-adjacent and had everything we were looking for. Woody took care of our every question and request. We rarely heard a "no" and we were able to craft the perfect wedding we had always dreamt of. He was very quick with his replies and offered us some invaluable advice when it came down to the nitty-gritty details you don’t always think about.

The venue is directly across from a beautiful park, which made for pre-wedding photo ease! There’s also a very large parking garage next to the venue, so parking wasn't an issue for anyone. Plus, with nearby access to the Green Line, our city guests were easily able to attend.

We are still hearing compliments about the food served at our wedding. My husband and I are both foodies and were able to create a foodie-themed “prix fixe style” dinner menu, all while not breaking the bank.

The day of our wedding, Ryan made sure everything went off without a hitch. He and his staff provided excellent service and we could not thank them enough! We even got compliments on their bartenders, as everyone definitely had a great time.

As the ballroom has a very large stage, we happily contracted with a fantastic 10-piece orchestra who had our 165 guests dancing the night away. When the biggest gripe on your wedding day was that your florist (no connection to the venue) messes up the correct flower colors in some of your boutonnieres, you know you had a successful night! Huge thanks to Woody, Ryan, and their entire staff for making our wedding ceremony and reception so spectacular and memorable!

Working with manager Woody was a great experience. He shares his email and responds promptly to questions and concerns. My daughter's wedding was perfect thanks to the 19th century charitable assoc.. Food was delicious, beef so tender. Banquet serving went very well. No long wait lines. Food was plentiful. Squash soup was delicious. Service was excellent. I highly recommend the 19th century club for your special parties.

My wedding would not have been as wonderful as it was if it had been held at any other venue. The venue itself is stunning, Danielle and her team were amazingly accommodating and the food was top notch. We rented the first and second floor for our wedding of about 240 people. We used the first floor for cocktail hour and then had the kids eat down there while everyone else was in the upstairs ballroom for dinner. My wedding was 8 months ago and I still regularly have friends and family members comment on how beautiful and unique the venue was. It was so convenient to have everything in one space, but great to save the first look of the ballroom until after cocktail hour. Despite initially having a delay in response when I first reached out for a tour, I could not have imagined a better group to work with in planning my wedding than Danielle and her team. Danielle is a true professional- she is calm and reassuring and throughout the entire process made me feel completely comfortable in her hands. From suggestions such as having the salads already platted when guests are seated to move the dinner service along, to her suggestions on where to place the DJ so he would not be in the background of our photos of the speeches (something I had not thought of!), she knows what she's doing. In addition, she was so accommodating to my father-in-law who was quite particular on the wine choices for the evening! The day could not have run any smoother. We did use their catering services and the food did not disappoint. I will be honest that the food was not a top priority of mine, so I really lucked out that the food here is incredible. So many guests commented on how good the food was- and not just good for being "wedding food", but a genuinely great meal. Lastly, this venue was by far the best value I found and believe me I searched throughout the entire Chicagoland area. I cannot emphasize enough how great of a decision it was to have our reception at the 19th Century Club!

My niece had her wedding here and it was absolutely gorgeous! The historical building was beautiful and with a lot of character. The rooms are spacious and the service was excellent. Parking was available and extremely inexpensive. The bar served top tier drinks. Highly recommend this place for your special event!

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Woody and the 19th Century team this past weekend for our wedding. They were extremely responsive and accommodating to our needs while bringing a ton of expertise and professionalism to our event. Not to mention that the space is gorgeous, and the 19th century association does so much good work in their community. The food was amazing, and having it in-house was such a relief while planning a wedding. We cannot recommend working with this team enough!

We held our Welcome Party here the night before the wedding and this venue was perfect! The team is very accommodating and friendly. We mostly worked with Woody who helped make everything happen for us, including hiring Chef Jane to cook us wonderful Haitian food. The day of Stephanie helped keep everything together and was so kind. Ryan made sure the team was set and the service we received was great. The space worked great for up to 300 people and could have held more! We loved the setup we had for our welcome party and we had the best time.

Such a great venue to host your wedding or any event in Oak Park, highly recommend!
