The only thing better than the food was the staff. The bartender was amazing with a warm and inviting presence that can make anyone feel at home in this local gem. The rich history and bold flavors can't be beat. Thanks a million to the staff for a late night coffee , fantastic food, and great conversations.

Took a drive to Red Bud and stopped at this very nice restaurant on Main street in Red Bud IL. On Sundays they serve a limited brunch menu, because they close at 2PM. They have a full bar if you desire an adult beverage. I ordered their ā€œTriple Decker Clubā€ sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries. The sandwich was amazing, the ham and turkey that was used fresh sliced and had a really nice smokey flavor. They served it on a toasted multi-grain bread.

The service was great, our waitress was super friendly and very nice. She checked on us regularly to see that we were taken care of.

Would like to go back on a Saturday and check out their full menu.

Classy little joint in a tiny city, perfect!

Stopped in for a late lunch early supper and to get a bit of work done.

Waited a few to finally get seated, but so glad I did.

I was going to order the Reuben, but the server told me about a special they were having, Reuben Rolls. They were good, not the best cuz I really missed my rye bread, but very good. Got some fries and a house salad to round out the meal. Had sweet tea to drink, which was delicious! Topped it off with another recommendation, the cookie dough cake. So delectable! Good service - awesome food!!

Went to 1860 to try something new as the other restaurant we wanted to go to was closed greeted nice went to the bar asked what we wanted to drink. Received that and the and the lady /server/bartender asked I she could bring some rolls out. We were like sure this is our first time here got our food, which was four out of five because there was lumps in the potatoes, which made it a little dry when biting into them so I asked for butter for that and another butter for the broccoli. I also had salmon and I asked for tartar sauce. So then when we received our bill, we were charged $2.50 for three rolls which again we were asked if she could bring some out, we weren’t asked or informed that would be like an appetizer or a charge. We just thought it was part of the meal. We were not told / informed there was a charge for butter nor the tarter sauce. I asked the server/bartender to come over to the table and I said we will not pay for the rolls. We weren’t told there was a fee. We will not pay for butter. We will not pay for tartar sauce since we both had fish should come with it, so she takes the receipt over to the manager, lady I don’t know who she was she did not say and She comes over to the table and she says she will take the tartar sauce off, but not the rolls & butter and I started to say if… And then she instantly said you will talk to me respectfully, and I replied, and you will talk to me respectfully… So I continued and said if we were told and inform that it cost for the rolls, we would’ve said no or yes, and we had no idea And she says it’s in the menu again. This is our first time here at this place and we didn’t have time to look at the menu. We were just asked if she could bring out some rolls for us so we said yes. And then she also said why haven’t you been to restaurants where they charge you for extra things I said yes but they let us know there’s an extra charge. I said I can give you one of the butters back if you want your butter back she said yes I would so I reached into the bag, with the containers we already put together in to go bag and I gave her one container of butter, so I don’t know if she put it back in the rotation and gave it to another customer .. and after I remember, I don’t think I have been charged for butter or tartar sauce, especially when we both had fish.
I had a picture of the menu so wouldn’t we left? I looked at it and it says a dollar/guest. I’m assuming that means a dollar per roll. If so, why were we given three there was only two of us and why were recharge $2.50 that makes no sense. The server/bartender should’ve clarified Since we were there for the first time and asked if we wanted any appetizers like rolls or something then we would’ve known it was a charge and we would’ve denied them. … I rate the food a 4 outta 5 because of the lumps in the mashed potatoes. Otherwise, it was very good. The treatment we had at the end by this I don’t even know who who she is lady and not listening to the customer very well and she needs to make it clear. Are there servers need to make it clear it cost for butter seriously. Quite disappointed again the food was rated for we would’ve come back, but we will not be back and we will let other people know of the treatment we received which was unprofessional and unacceptable!

We passed through redbud several times a month, but seldom eat out because a member of our family has AlphaGal Syndrome. (It’s a tick borne illness that makes you allergic to all mammal products. That includes beef, pork, dairy, and all sorts of hidden ingredients.)

Eating out has become less fun and more stressful.

This restaurant in a small town exceeded the experience we have had in almost any big city dining establishment.

They took the allergy seriously, while having a sense of humor about it and made sure that our family member could not only eat safely but have food she actually wanted and enjoyed.

The service was great as well.

The food was fresh and well prepared and the decor of the space was perfectly executed. I actually googled the tree wallpaper to put in my own home!

Personally, I had a delicious hand battered cod sandwich. The spicy tartar sauce was amazing.

Lunch with two alcoholic drinks (including an excellent Manhattan) was just over $40.

Their beers on draft represented an unusual and excellent selection as well.

They clearly have a strong local following that appreciates them and the staff knew all of their regulars by name and preferred food/drinks.

We were so grateful for a delicious meal and their kindness and will definitely be back. Highly recommend. It’s hard to find places anymore where ā€œhospitalityā€ is truly practiced.

They nailed it.
