Norma was an outstanding hostess for our 4-person family trip in July 2019! She was warm and gracious, eager to please, knowledgeable of the area and the bike trail, and an excellent cook. Her B&B was a quick drive from the Tunnel Hill trail and Vienna. The grounds are lovely, and we especially enjoyed the lighted fountain in the pond, the gazebo, and the many hummingbirds visiting her porch. We were grateful for reliable air conditioning as we visited during a heat wave. We enjoyed visiting in her living area. It is a country, rustic setting with antique furniture. We found it comfortable and welcoming.

We stayed here on a trip I planned for my husband last year. I can't believe it's taken me this long to write my review! Norma is the sweetest lady you could ever meet and really makes an effort to make sure you are comfortable and happy. She had so much helpful info on the bike ride we were planning and also recommended some great dining options. Our room and bed were super comfy and not noisy at all even tho we were downstairs by the kitchen. Scrumptious breakfast made for us and served on beautiful dining ware. It is such a charming house with beautiful grounds and a little gazebo with a fire pit and wood and was the perfect way to end each day with a glass of wine and toasty fire. If in this area it would be the only choice of where to stay in my opinion.

What a great B&B. We stayed with Norma the first week in April 2016. She was such a great hostess. The room was wonderful, Norma's years of antique collecting and her long family history in the area make this such a comfortable special home. She is a bike rider's best friend. She was a help from the moment we arrived to the time we packed up to leave. She could answer any question, she had up to date info and she knows virtually everyone in the area so she connected us with others who gave us advice. We can't wait to visit her again with some friends.

My family and I recently lost our grandpa, who lived in Goreville, IL, and we stayed at Country Schemes B&B for the funeral. During a very difficult time, this beautiful property--its rolling glens, serene ponds, and captivating history--provided some much needed comfort. The rooms were extremely comfortable, the home was beautiful, and Norma was kind and attentive to our every need. Though I'm still so sad to have lost my grandpa, I'm so happy to have discovered the amazing hidden treasure that is Country Schemes B&B. I can't wait to return with family and friends in the future to enjoy the beautiful landscape, the bike trail, and Norma's famous pound cake!

It is outside or Vienna on a centennial farm. The house was rustic and Americana for the style. The hostess, Norma is a wonderful lady and goes above and beyond. We are planning another trip back here. The price was extremely reasonable at 80 dollars for the night and breakfast was exquisite. I know I was at a bed and breakfast but it almost seemed like I was staying at my grandparents house. My wife and I cannot wait to return and this time, take the kids. In addition to the atmosphere of the B and B, the location is great for the Shawnee national forest for hiking and the Garden of the Gods rock formations.

This is a great location convenient to the Tunnel Hill Trail and numerous other state parks and the Shawnee National Forest. The house is also very quiet, comfortable, and has been beautifully restored. Norma went out of way to make sure that all our needs were taken care of and prepared a delicious and bountiful breakfast. We highly recommend Country Schemes.

A long overdue review. Awesome host Norma, beautiful property, wonderful home, and the scenery is so pretty. While working in the area, I stayed whenever she had an opening. You cannot go wrong staying here. If I was able to stay in this area again, here is where I would be! Miss you Norma!

This is our 3rd time staying at Country Schemes and it was better then ever. We are treated like family. Norma is a true treasure and we love staying with her. Biking the tunnel trail was a lot of fun and hiking the area was good too.
