I like the hotel. Rooms are nice the staff was nice I really like the water fill up stations. 2 issues with the hotel.

1. Valet - expensive and not great. Came down at the end of our stay and we waited forever to get our car. So why charge so much for valet service then take 30 minutes to get our car for us. The workers were working hard so I don't put it on them. The service should be free if it takes 30 minutes to get my car.

2. Dog Poop. Luckily I avoided the poop on the first day but on the way out I stepped in some. This was very frustrating. This is a very nice hotel so why am I dodging poop on the way in. First day I through it up to bad luck but there was more poop on day two? Something needs to be done about people bring their pets and letting them poop right outside the front entrance.

Overall why pay so much for valet to wait 30 min and get to step in poop while I wait. Everything else was nice but these two issues will keep me from staying here again. Unless the animal situation changes and the valet price is greatly reduced.

Great service, clean rooms & one of the better seafood restaurants in the area. The $10 calamari for happy hour is worth the visit by itself. Seems to always be under construction, but they take good care of you here. It's nice to walk around the river and get away from some of the hustle of the city.

Thought I'd reviewed this in the past but this has become one of my go-to hotels when I need one in Sacramento, and especially since Marriott and Starwood merged a long time ago. It's extremely close to my mom's place, has fantastic rooms, a great restaurant, and is very quiet.

There was some construction going on at the river in the past which blocked all the views, but that's completed now and it's all very tranquil. Service has always been great and the rooms are clean, spacious, and pretty luxurious. The grounds are beautiful and overall they did a great job of integrating the hotel into a little piece of land tucked away between the levee and freeway. I never would have thought something like this would be here growing up in the area.

Overall I'd highly recommend the Westin.

Unfortunately this was my overall worst experience in a hotel among the hundreds of stays I've had around the country. I was placed in a room directly next to a room under construction. So instead of relaxing and getting to sleep early as was my plan. I listened to drills into walls, loud construction workers that felt the need to shout at each other, and slamming doors till 7pm. And naturally they were back at it before I could wake up in the AM.

I called the front desk to try and get a different room, they said they would call back in 15 minutes but never bothered to call back.

So much for a relaxing night at the hotel/spa.

The room itself was nice but the service was substantially subpar.

NOT WORTH HIDDEN FEES!
I have been staying at this hotel for the last 15 years, and it used to be the only nice option in Sacramento. They've recently done an amazing renovation on the rooms, which is a major plus. If you're lucky enough to get a room facing the river, the view is great; otherwise, you're stuck looking at the parking lot.

However, despite the upgraded rooms, they didn't upgrade the HVAC system. It turned on every 15 minutes, and it was so loud that it woke me up each time. To make matters worse, the hotel was nearly empty during our stay, yet I was still placed on the ground floor right next to another guest who had their TV on blast all night.

While I was aware of the $333 room charge and was okay with it given my long history with the hotel, the additional mandatory $45 valet fee, hidden fees, and taxes pushed the total to well over $400 for one night—on an empty night, no less! This is Sacramento, and it is NOT WORTH that kind of money. You can stay downtown, closer to everything, in a super nice hotel for half the cost.

It's sad to say, but I won't be coming back with these rates and fees. What was once a reliable choice in Sacramento has now priced itself out of the market for me.

It's a well-kept and still beautiful older hotel right on the river. Rooms are large and spacious, and the upper floors have a decent view of the river. Only thing is parking is not cheap.

Intro: this is mid range marriot. Not one of the best.

Pros:
-location is semi great
-the room is very nice
-the bed was definitely one of the most comfortable
-the food is really good.

Cons:
-the staff, the staff, and the staff. They make you feel uncomfortable at times and the valet guys have weird energy. Either they are nice or not and it’s very clear. Also, some of the cleaning staff can have weird energy especially when you say hello to them. It’s like they don’t want to say hello back.

Overall: it’s okay. The rooms are great but the staff 😑.
