We were pleased to find the rooms, carpet, kitchenette, and bathroom very clean, well stocked and maintained. Beds were clean and comfortable. We really appreciated how close we were to the center of Old Town Grass Valley, home to all the lovely shops and restaurants - so enjoyed the Mill Street pedestrian mall! We greatly appreciated staff quickly taking care of the refrigerator that couldn't close properly because of ice buildup. We certainly recommend this inn!

My wife and I spent 6 wonderful nights in their cottage while visiting family in the area. Very comfortable and quiet, beautiful grounds, and close to everything. The manager would accommodate any of our needs, however, we didn’t need much because so much is provided. We are looking forward to returning… which is in 3 days after a quick trip to the coast!

My sister and I had a two bedroom two bath room with a small kitchen that was perfect! We each had our own space and the kitchen gave us more space to hang out in the mornings.

My friend and I really appreciated how clean and comfortable the rooms were. We were warmly greeted upon check-in, the location is fantastic if you want to walk to restaurants and shopping (there is a hill), it’s quiet. The WiFi is such that we really had a good chance to catch up rather than spend time on devices (don’t rely on the WiFi if you need to work) and the hot water in the shower is…playful. It’s not perfect, but I’ll happily stay here again.

This is one of the nicest places we have stayed in California! We stayed at several Hilton properties this summer and SMI blew them all out of the water. Comfortable bed, great a/c, water fill station, smart tv, and super close to town. Easy late night check in and even simpler check out. We walked down to the shops and to the wedding we came to town for at the Holbrooke Hotel. Thank you for a great stay!

Not fancy but the room was spacious with a sitting area and kitchenette.|Very clean and comfortable as well. Nice outdoor space to enjoy a coffee or a meal. Friendly staff and convenient location. Walk to Old Downtown..|Nice alternative to a chain motel.

My sister and I had to evacuate from California due to a fire threatening our town. So we went to our dads 8 hrs away in NV. On our way back, our car started to overheat (around Fernley). We stopped in Grass Valley and made the decision to stay the night, and leave just before the sun came up. So we chose SMI and booked our room. They are 100% pet friendly (long as you pay the $35 pet fee). There are dog baggies just next to the lawn. The room was we got was small, but we just needed a break. Their bed was so comfy, our pup slept throughout most of our stay. Wifi is ever so slightly spotty, but wasn’t a big deal. The room was very clean upon arrival. And the hospitality was BEYOND amazing. They have a text system, so if you need anything, they’re there to help you until the office closes (8AM-8PM, but available until around 9:30PM). You get into your rooms by the last 4 of your phone number, so when checkout comes, all you have to do is text! My ONLY complaint was the few TV channels the TV offered. My sister and I couldn’t find cartoons (though I’m not sure if we were looking hard enough). We watched Family Guy and ID shows most of the time. Thank you SMI!!!!

Stayed here many many times, always phenomenal.
Clean rooms and very plush in my opinion. Amenities are amazing. Staff was warm and welcoming. They provide dishes, dish soap, coffee, ect. in the rooms. This has been one of my very favorite places to stay for a few years. If you want to.relax, you'll love it here.
